  • To participate, you will manage and work with real DREF data.
  • It can be in any format and any tool: a dashboard, infographic, map, chart, custom graphics, set of sketches or any combination of these. We are looking for creative, innovative, impactful, friendly and user-focused visual products to improve analysis of DREF data. The intended users for such a product would be humanitarian advisors, operations managers, and others who are looking at trends in Red Cross Red Crescent responses supported by the DREF.Ĭreate a visual product aiming to improve analytics and support decision-making for the Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF). There is an untapped potential to use data visualisation to describe DREF coverage and impact, as well to potentially even prescribe and suggest future improvements to reach more rapidly and effectively those affected by disasters and crises. With an annual average of 115 DREF operations over the past 5 years, the coverage of the DREF is worldwide, reaching countries from all IFRC regions and allowing National Societies to respond more effectively to disasters and crises. To support these smaller disasters, or to provide initial funding before launching an Emergency Appeal, the IFRC rapidly channels funding to Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies through the DREF-enabling them to deliver fast and effective local humanitarian action. Without media attention or international visibility, they can struggle to attract funding-putting affected communities at risk of being completely neglected. It helps our network better meet the needs of affected communities.Įvery year, small and medium-sized disasters occur in silence. * IFRC GO is IFRC’s emergency operations platform for capturing, analysing and sharing real-time data during a crisis.
